Pithali is a very popular dish in Jamalpur region. To many, this cake is also known as 'Menda'.

1 kg of beef
100 grams of rice powder
One and a half cup of chopped onion
1 tablespoon garlic paste
Ginger paste 1 teaspoon
1 teaspoon of turmeric powder
4 teaspoons of chilli powder
1 teaspoon of coriander powder
1 teaspoon of cumin powder
1 teaspoon of fennel powder
Cook 1/2 teaspoon
5/6 cardamom
2 pieces of cinnamon
2 bay leaves
The amount of oil, salt, water
For storage / boiling:
2 dried chillies
2 tablespoons chopped onion
1 teaspoon of crushed garlic
Kalojira 1/2 teaspoon
Method:
In a pan, take the required amount of oil and put the meat in it with all the spices except rice powder. Cook the meat well over medium heat and add adequate amount of water. When the meat is cooked, mix the rice powder in cold water and add it to the meat and keep stirring. When the broth thickens as desired, lower it with dried chillies, onion-garlic paste and black cumin seeds and serve hot.
Note:
1. Pithali is also great to eat with hot rice, polao, bread, parata, murdi, naan or just like halim.
2. Pithali jhala jhalai is better. However, if you can't eat salt, reduce the amount of pepper.
3. If you do not like the flavor of black cumin in the season, you can give cumin instead. And if you don't like any of it, you can just boil it with onion, garlic and chilli.
4. It is usually cooked in a thick broth like pithali semolina pudding. But I prefer its broth like halim. But how thick the broth will be, it all depends on your choice.
