Bleeding from the gums should be understood as gingivitis or inflammation of the gums. If your gums bleed easily or bleed when you brush your teeth, see a dentist first. Gingivitis is curable and easily remedied.

Causes bleeding

1. One of the main causes of bleeding gums is not brushing your teeth regularly. A white coating of food particles stuck on the teeth, which we call dental plug. After 24 hours, the dental plug hardens and becomes calculus. This calculus is one of the causes of bleeding gums.

2. Calculus is located between the teeth and the gums and the constant rubbing of the calculus against the soft gums makes the gums bleed easily. Calculus is also the cause of gum swelling and inflammation. This is called gingivitis.

3. When gingivitis progresses and becomes more pronounced, it is called periodontitis. In this condition, the tooth gradually moves away from the gum and starts moving.

A number of other factors may be responsible for the bleeding. Eg -
Vigorous brushing, improper fitting of dentures, improper flossing, leukemia (a type of blood cancer), blood thinners, hormonal effects during pregnancy, scurvy, vitamin C deficiency, vitamin K deficiency
