Anemia, which is called anemia in English, is one of the most common symptoms in the world. Anemia is considered by many to be a disease, in fact it is only a symptom, behind which can hide a very simple disease to a serious disease. Therefore, anemia should not always be considered in the ordinary eyes.

The common people of our country think that the blood is low, it will be fixed if they eat and drink well or take iron-like medicine or if the blood is too low, they perform blood transfusion in the body before diagnosing the disease by themselves or on the doctor's advice.

If the blood is transfused before the disease is diagnosed, hematologists are at a loss to catch the hidden disease. Because then the patient's blood report is not correct. It is too late to diagnose the disease.

Below are the common causes of anemia.

1. Iron deficiency anemia

If the amount of iron in the blood decreases.

Factors that can lead to iron deficiency include:

Long-term low intake of iron or iron-rich foods

Light daily bleeding from the body (eg piles + worm infection), excessive menstruation in women

2. Combined deficiency anemia

Decreased levels of iron and other vitamins (B-12) and minerals in the blood.

3. Anemia for chronic disease

If someone has a long-term illness such as:

Chronic kidney disease

Diabetes

Low thyroid hormone

Tuberculosis

Olive cancer (stomach, small intestine, colon)

Blood cancer (lymphoma, multiple myeloma, chronic leukemia, acute leukemia, etc.)

Auto immune diseases (such as rheumatoid arthritis/SLE)

4. Thalassemia

A very common disease in Bangladesh. It is very important to catch it at the right time and get a bone marrow transplant or bone marrow transplant in those who need it.

5. Aplastic anemia

So that the red blood cells, white blood cells and platelets all decrease. If this disease is not determined on an urgent basis, it is not possible to save the patient for a long time.

Besides, there are many other diseases like bone marrow failure syndrome, neonatal anemia, PNH in which anemia is diagnosed as the main symptom.

So in case of anemia or anemia, before giving blood to the body, a hematologist should be consulted for early diagnosis of the real disease.
