No one can deny that dark circles can make your skin look dull and tired. You can blame it on your hectic schedule, binge-watching your favorite show, or a sleepless night. All of these factors can contribute to ugly dark circles. If you’re also facing this issue, try the coffee! How to use coffee for dark circles? Well, we are revealing three simple coffee under-eye mask recipes to help you get rid of them.

You’ve probably seen people using coffee to improve the glow and complexion of their skin. Coffee is slowly but surely making its way into the beauty world as a skincare ingredient. Its antioxidant properties are what make it so beneficial to the skin.

Health Shots spoke to Dr. Amit Bangia, Senior Consultant Dermatologist, Asian Hospital, Faridabad, about the benefits of coffee and how you can actually use it in order to remove dark circles.

3 under-eye masks to get rid of dark circles

1. Coffee and vitamin E eye mask

  • You will need one tablespoon of coffee, one tablespoon of honey, and one vitamin E capsule.
  • Now, take a bowl and add coffee and honey. Mix the ingredients well to make a smooth paste.
  • In this mixture, puncture the vitamin E capsule. Mix it up for the last time.
  • Apply the mask evenly under your eyes and allow it to dry for 10 minutes.
  • Make sure you scrub the mask off and then wash your face with cold water.
  • Do this at least three times a week.

2. Coffee and almond oil eye mask

  • To prepare this under-eye mask, you will need 1 tablespoon of coffee powder and 10-15 drops of almond oil.
  • Mix the ingredients in a bowl to make a smooth paste.
  • Keep this mixture in the refrigerator for half an hour before applying it.
  • Now, apply it under your eyes and leave it for 10 minutes.
  • Wash your face with lukewarm water.
  • Do this at least three times a week.

  • 3. Coffee and coconut oil eye mask
  • Take one tablespoon of coffee powder and 10-15 drops of coconut oil.
  • To this mixture, add rose water. Mix the ingredients well to make a smooth paste.
  • Gently apply it to your under-eye area.
  • Leave it on for about 10-15 minutes and then rinse it with cold water.
  • Do this at least three times a week.

Make sure the paste does not go inside the eye as it can irritate the eye. Also, if you experience any irritation, stop using these under-eye masks.

Here’s why a coffee under-eye mask works

According to Dr. Bangia, “Poor circulation is the primary cause of under-eye dark circles and puffiness. Coffee, on the other hand, may be beneficial in removing dark circles because it improves blood circulation.”

Coffee is also anti-inflammatory and high in antioxidants, which means it reduces the damage caused by lack of sleep on the skin around the eyes. Additionally, caffeine in coffee has the ability to absorb accumulated water and is extremely effective in reducing puffiness and swelling around the eyes.
