Napa Extra / Paracetamol Caffeine

Description: Paracetamol and caffeine are fast, effective and safe painkillers that have antipyretic effects. This is especially useful for patients who for some reason cannot tolerate aspirin or other painkillers. The presence of caffeine increases the effectiveness of paracetamol.

Use: Headache, migraine, toothache, neuralgia, sore throat, back pain, fever, cold and flu.

Dosage: Adults: 1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours. The maximum daily dose is 4 grams (6 tablets).

Adverse Effects & Precautions: Side effects of paracetamol are usually mild, although there are reports of hematological reactions such as thrombocytopenia, leukopenia, pancytopenia, neutropenia, and agranulocytosis.


Occasionally there is pancreatitis, skin rash and other allergic reactions. Paracetamol and caffeine should be taken with caution in the following cases. In patients with liver and kidney problems, taking other hepatotoxic drugs.

Contra-indication: Paracetamol should not be used for severe renal dysfunction and liver disease (viral hepatitis). Hypersensitivity to paracetamol or caffeine.


Use in Pregnancy & Lactation: Precautions should be taken before taking paracetamol and caffeine. Paracetamol and caffeine can be taken while breastfeeding.


Drug Interaction: Paracetamol and caffeine increase the potency of chloramphenicol and coumarin anti-coagulants. Those taking alcohol and other anti-epileptic drugs have a higher risk of developing paracetamol hepatotoxicity.


Overdose: Symptoms of paracetamol overdose in the first 24 hours include pallor, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, and abdominal pain. Liver damage can be detected within 12 to 40 hours of overdose. Abnormalities of glucose metabolism and metabolic acidosis may occur.
