সতর্কতা ও যেসব ক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহার করা যাবে না : রোজেসিয়া, একনি ভালগারিস ও পেরিওরাল ডার্মাটাইটিস, হার্পিস সিমপ্লেক্স, চিকেন পক্স ইত্যাদি ক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহার অনুপযোগী। এটার কোন উপাদানের প্রতি সংবেদনশীল রোগীদের ক্ষেত্রেও ব্যবহার অনুপযোগী। কিছু বিশেষ ক্ষেত্রে যেমন, গর্ভাবস্থায়, বয়স্কদের ক্ষেত্রে এবং যাদের বৃক্কের কার্যক্রম ত্রুটিযুক্ত তাদের ক্ষেত্রে কোন বিরূপ প্রতিক্রিয়ার ঝুঁকির জন্য ব্যবহার না করা ভাল। ক্যানডিডিয়াসিস, টিনিয়া, ইমপেটিগো, সিউডোমোনাস অথবা প্রোটিয়াস শ্রেনীর জন্য প্রাইমারী এবং সেকেন্ডারী সংক্রমণ, পেরিয়েনাল এবং জননাঙ্গের প্রুরাইটিস, এক বৎসর বয়সের নীচে শিশুদের চর্মরোগে, ডারমাটাইটিস এবং কাপড়ের ঘষায় সৃষ্ট ক্ষতে এটা ব্যবহার করা যাবে না। বহিঃকর্ণের প্রদাহে ব্যবহার করা উচিত নয়।
পার্শ্ব প্রতিক্রিয়া : দীর্ঘমেয়াদী চিকিৎসা চামড়ায় কোষের গঠণগত পরিবর্তন করতে পারে যেমন- চামড়ার উপরিভাগের রক্তনালীর প্রসারণ হতে পারে। দীর্ঘমেয়াদী ও প্রচুর পরিমাণে ব্যাপক এলাকায় ব্যবহারের ফলে হাইপারকর্টিসিজম এর লক্ষণ দেখা যেতে পারে এবং হাইপোথ্যালামাস-পিটুইটারী- এড্রেনাল সাপ্রেশন ঘটতে পারে।
গর্ভাবস্থা ও স্তন্যদানকালে ব্যবহার : গর্ভবতী প্রাণীদের বাহ্যিকভাবে কর্টিকোস্টেরয়েড ব্যবহার ভ্রুণের বৃদ্ধির অসামঞ্জস্যতা যেমন ভ্রুণের ত্বক এবং মূত্র নালীর বৃদ্ধি ব্যাহত করে। মানুষের ভ্রুণের খুবই অল্প পার্শ্ব প্রতিক্রিয়া দেখা যেতে পারে। নিওমাইসিনের ব্যবহারে ভ্রুণের কানের বিরূপ প্রতিক্রিয়ারও ঝুঁকি থাকতে পারে।
