The US embassy is starting to accept student visa applications

The US Embassy in Dhaka is going to start accepting applications from new applicants for F, J and M category visas from next Sunday.

Those three categories are Student Visa, Student Exchange Visa and Scholarship Visa.

However, due to the Covid-19 situation, the number of interviews on the embassy’s daily routine will be limited and visa processing may take up to six weeks, the US embassy said in a statement on Friday.

The embassy authorities also requested the applicants to plan their visa application and travel dates keeping in mind the visa process.

Applicants need to log on to website and update their profile online. An online interview must be taken after paying the relevant visa fee.

The embassy said in a statement that the application fee (MRV) will remain valid until the regular visa service activities of the US Embassy in Dhaka are resumed and the application fee can be used to make an appointment till December 31, 2021.

For those who will apply for a student visa renewal, students in the United States who wish to continue studying the same subject at their old / same educational institution are being offered the opportunity to renew a student visa without an interview.

The US embassy also said that applications for renewal of visas for spouses and their children under the age of 21 under F-2 visas are being accepted.
