মাত্রা ও ব্যবহার বিধি : ফেবুক্সোস্ট্যাট ৪০ মি.গ্রা. অথবা ৮০ মি.গ্রা. দিনে একবার ব্যবহার করতে হবে। যেসব রোগীদের সিরামে ইউরিক এসিডের মাত্রা ২ সপ্তাহ পরে ৬ মি.গ্রা. / ডেসিলিটার এর নীচে নামে না তাদের ক্ষেত্রে ফেবুক্সোস্ট্যাট ৮০ মি.গ্রা. নির্দেশিত। খাদ্য বা এন্টাসিডের সাথে ফেবুক্সোস্ট্যাট সেবনের ক্ষেত্রে কোন সম্পর্ক নাই। যে সব রোগীর কিডনী ও লিভারে সমস্যা আছে তাদের ক্ষেত্রে ফেবুক্সোস্টাট-এর মাত্রা সংশোধনের কোন প্রয়োজন নাই।
সাবধানতা :
১। কিছু কিছু রোগীর ক্ষেত্রে ফেবুক্সোস্টাট শুরুর প্রথমে বাতের ব্যথা বেড়ে যাওয়ার সম্ভাবনা থাকে। তখন ফেবুক্সোস্টাট বন্ধ না করে এর সাথে ব্যথার ওষুধ বা কোলচিচিন ৬ মাস পর্যন্ত ব্যবহার করতে হবে।
২। হার্টের এবং স্ট্রোকের রোগীদের ক্ষেত্রে ডাক্তারের পরামর্শানুযায়ী ব্যবহার করতে হবে।
৩। লিভার সঠিকভাবে কাজ করছে কিনা তা লক্ষ্য রাখতে হবে।
পার্শ্ব প্রতিক্রিয়া : লিভারে সমস্যা, বমি বমি ভাব, অস্থিসন্ধিতে ব্যথা ও চামড়াতে লাল দাগ হওয়া।
প্রতিনির্দেশনা : যে সকল রোগী অ্যাজাথিওপ্রিন, মারক্যাপটোপিউরিন বা থিওফাইলিন ব্যবহার করছে তাদের ক্ষেত্রে ফেবুক্সোস্টাট ব্যবহার করা যাবে না।
অন্য ওষুধের সাথে প্রতিক্রিয়া : ফেবুক্সোস্টাট এর সাথে এযাথিওপ্রিন, মারক্যাপটোপিউরিন বা থিওফাইলিনের ব্যবহারে বিষক্রিয়ার সম্ভাবনা থাকে।
গর্ভাবস্থায় ও স্তন্যদানকালে ব্যবহার : গর্ভাবস্থার জন্য ক্যাটাগরি ‘সি’ ওষুধ। গর্ভাবস্থায় ব্যবহারের পর্যাপ্ত তথ্য পাওয়া যায়নি তবে যখন ভ্রুণের ক্ষতির তুলনায় সুস্থতার অধিক নিশ্চয়তা যুক্তিসঙ্গত প্রমানিত হবে তখনই ফেবুক্সোস্টাট দেয়া যেতে পারে। স্তন্যদানকারী মায়েদের ক্ষেত্রে সাবধানতা অবলম্বন করতে হবে।
শিশুদের ক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহার : শিশু রোগীদের ক্ষেত্রে ফেবুক্সোস্টাট এর নিরাপত্তা ও কার্যকারিতা এখনও প্রতিষ্ঠিত হয়নি।
